Boxing Games
Being one of the well regarded sports, it’s only
natural that gaming has seen a wealth of boxing
games. Even on the old game machines like MAME, Atari,
Commodore, Sega and Playstation, boxing games have successes in
game titles.
Newer generations and newer machines,
boxing games are still being produced. While some
aren’t as convincing and interesting as the actual sport, there are
others that are made interesting not with realism but by twists in
the gameplay.
There are many boxing games available, including
those in the past that are playable by today’s standards.
Ultimately, it leaves you a title on the system you own. So without
further ado, here are the best known titles for boxing games.
Title Bout Championship Boxing
Release Date: Dec 8, 2003
Title Bout Championship Boxing is different than
most of the crop of boxing games. It takes a leaf from the
critically acclaimed Championship Manager games and delivers a
boxing simulation, with you as a manager, cut man, and corner man.
And as a final twist, you can get to have any boxer regardless of
generation under your wing. So that means you can take the Brown
Bomber to a challenge against today’s contemporaries like Larry
Holmes and Evander Holyfield.
Wrapping it up, like most sim games, Title Bout
Championship boxing features a lot –in text. Those that are looking
for an adrenaline pumping game should look elsewhere as Title Bout
can quickly bore gamers not into the genre.
Ready 2 Rumble
Release date: Oct 23, 2000
Fighting atop skyscrapers or fighting as a
customized boxer, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2 for the
Playstation 2 is more of a comic relief than a boxing experience.
With a weak AI, there’s really no reason to purchase Ready 2 Rumble
Boxing, especially if you looking for a hint of realism or a sense
of achievement.
But for arcade reasons, Ready 2 Rumble can offer
loads of interest with its fast actions and frantic button mashing.
The twists, like the boxer customization can keep interest on a
quick shallow basis.
Fight Night Round 3
Dec 5, 2006
Fight Night Round 3 is definitely one of the
best incarnations of the sport. And it is available on multi
platforms, the Xbox 360 and its predecessor, Playstation 2 and 3,
and its portable PSP, though the best titles are those of the
seventh generation platforms.
No other boxing games comes as
close in sprite effects than Fight Night Round 3. From menacing
mugs of Sugar Ray to Golden Boy La Hoya’s good looks, the game
represented each fighter’s detail as closely. And due to the
systems technical power, you’d have to see a more convincing
sprite.
