Boxing Matches
In the history of boxing how many boxing
matches were already recorded? Among the many boxing
matches staged above the ring which one was the most anticipated?
Perhaps all the boxing matches that Muhammad Ali fought in were all
well attended by boxing pundits all over the world regardless of
whom he is fighting against. Today, Ali can only reminisce in awe
and pride all the boxing matches in his heydays.
During the earl 1900s the boxing
matches can have 20 rounds in single bout. Accordingly in
those years a champion boxer approximately had 87 bouts in his
career. All these matches were 20- rounders. Boxers during this era
were praised and looked up to for their indefatigable strength,
stamina, endurance and the unwavering determination to win. Each
boxer is determined to bring the fight even u to the last round.
There even were instances where the boxers have to endure 25 rounds
of boxing match.
In the ancient Greeks, there came a time where
boxers were pitted against each other and box each other in the
face until one of them expires. Such is the way boxing matches were
carried during those times. When boxing was considered as an
official game in the early years of the Olympic a boxing match has
suddenly gained new flavor. Boxers were already required to wear
leather straps, which is extremely safer than the spiked gloves
worn by the boxers in the earlier times.
Today boxing matches can follow
different rules. The amateurs as those in the Olympics impose
different regulations to the boxers. In the professional boxing
arena where there are different sanctioning bodies that give
different set of rules and regulations depending on where the
boxing match is taking place. For example boxers who are set to
fight in Las Vegas, Nevada will follow the sanctions of the Nevada
authorizing body in boxing. The same is true if boxers are playing
in other places in the United States and perhaps in other countries
in the world too.
In the US, Americans love to watch a boxing
match that has heavyweights gunning against each other. It is no
wonder that most of the world’s heavyweight champions were
Americans. Names like Muhammad Ali, Jack Dempsey, Mike Tyson,
and Evander Holyfield, and lately Chris Byrd have definitely made
the boxing arena in a moment of frenzy and organized chaos as they
display their boxing prowess and eventually went home the victor’s
belt with them.
Boxing has really improved over the years. One
of the remarkable developments is the lowering the number of
rounds. Likewise the boxers are more protected in terms of the
gloves they wear.
